Mettes Stemme METTES VOICE
Director Katrine Borre .Filmkontoret UVM og Den Vestdanske Filmfond. 60 min. 2014.
Mette is 43 years old. A trained nurse. Diagnosis: Paranoid Schizophrenia. After 15 years as a psychiatric patient, vast amounts of medicine and 150 electroshock treatments, she is finally starting to see her way forward. “Mette’s Voice” tracks Mette’s life during four years. A warm and thought-provoking film about hope and about mastering your own life. Denmark ranks as second in the world when it comes to the use of psychiatric drugs. “Mette’s Voice” has become a strong testament against a traditional one-sided focus on medicalization of mental distress.
“Mette’s Voice” won first price as the best foreign film at Mad in America Filmfestival in USA, 2015. It has been translated in to English, Spanish, French, Italian and Coratian, by initiative of people around the world. The film continues to circulate and among other it is on the curriculum at first year psychology at the UCLA.
